Outside of work, I tweet much less importantly (but more often) @James_daSilva, and I'm a partial-season ticket holder for the Washington Nationals. Old movies, TV comedies, reading and discussing history and philosophy, and beer are among other things I like.
What I used to do: I was a full-time copy editor at SmartBrief for 19 months, copy-editing the company's publications in energy, chemicals and K-12 education, as well as a stint with CPG and retail newsletters.
Before that, I was a copy editor/paginator at The Daily Star in Oneonta for 3 years and nine months, the last two years-plus as copy desk chief. I redesigned the paper's Weekend edition (before and after) and served on the paper's editorial board.
Also in my past: a Dow Jones News(paper) Fund copy-editing intern in summer 2005 at the Minneapolis Star Tribune; and a 2005 graduate of the then-Loyola College in Maryland (now Loyola University Maryland) with a double major in communications and philosophy. I also ran cross country.
